Percentages businesses often need
- VAT: the standard rate is 10%, the low rate 5% and the luxury goods rate 25%. For adding or removing VAT there is a separate VAT calculator.
- Markup and margin are not the same. A 25% markup on cost gives a 20% margin on the selling price. Mixing them up means selling too cheap.
- Price increase: a product that went from SRD 80 to SRD 100 became 25% more expensive. If it then drops 25%, it costs SRD 75, not SRD 80.
- Exchange rate change: the percentage change shows how much the dollar or euro has risen since your last purchase.
